Me agin!!!   In Davids recommended book Rother Wanderführer for Salzkammergut---the walk to the Hutteneck alm above Bad Goisern is fantastic. Will post a picture later. It is so varied yet easy and has fantastic views and lovely Hutte.

Any path numbers we can look up on a map?

Recently we have been exploring paths around Bad Ischl, St Gilgen & Fuschl. We fancy hopping on the train to Bad Goisern & Lake Halstatt in July.
Unless this heat wave continues in which case we will be in a beer garden for a week.

Hi,
You do need a car to get to the start of the walk unfortunately as it begins at the top of the Panorama Nova high above Bad Goisern. However using the train I would recommend following the salt trial from Hallstatt back to Steeg. Time it right and you can get a nice drop of Hallstatt brewed beer at the Steeg Wirt before getting the bus or train back to Bad Ischl. This walk is also in the book David recommended.
Another good one using the bus is the Heren Weg from the Gosausee back to Gosau.Marked on all the large scale maps and in the book also.

we caught the train to Hallstatt & walked back to bad ischl on saturday- lovely warm sunny day & a great walk but i was ready for a couple of cold beers by the time we got back!

Hallstatt - Bad Ischl. Brings back many memories. Did this walk in 1982 as part of the Scout Movement "Explorer Belt". Did my love of Austria begin then!!!!!!!!!!
