We are moving into our new apartment in Scheffau soon and was wondering if any of the other new residents visit the forum. Would love to make contact if there are any 'lurkers' out there !

Welcome Clive and Chris !

We need a few more lively characters and it's great to read your input.  The more that people post, the more useful the forum to one and all.  It went very quiet on here recently so I was thinking of having an "Obituaries" board   Grin  However, they all seem to have woken up again.  Maybe its the thrill of a UK election    Roll Eyes

I have been here for a decade and am based in Bad Ischl

Hi Clive & Chris

Welcome!

Our first visit to Austria was a holiday to westendorf in the summer about 6 years ago- it is a lovely village & gave us the bug to buy in Austria. I did quite a bit of paragliding from the local mountain there- do they still do it? We keep saying we will visit again and maybe we will now & take you up on a cup of coffee!

 Smiley Hi from us too,
Will keep in mind the invite. Lucky you to have made the move permanent. We are based in Bad Ischl but only on a 'holiday as often as possible' basis thus far.I think we are running a competition between Magnus/ Colette and Iain and I to see who can make the most trips Wink The crowd over here are very friendly so you may find you need more coffee!! the invite works both ways.
We had our first holiday in Soll not far from Scheffau in 1972!!
Keep in touch.

Bucket loads of coffee and good supply of Yorkshire tea!!!!!
Pre requisite for all our UK guests is a box of Yorkshire Tea, pack of bacon and warburtons milk roll for the kids.
Coffee coming out of our ears since i went mad on a "buy one get from free" offer.

Good to see that there are some who have ventured across the "border" to the Tyrol. Was starting to worry that I would have had to organise my own christmas drinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least i wouldnt have a problem deciding where and when to meet!!!

Enough sarcasm for one night - need my beauty sleep - and lots of it.

see you soon

cheers
Clive

ps - still lots of paragliding in westendorf and sorry I'm so young i dont remember where we went on holiday in 1972!!!!!!

I remember booking a ski holiday to Westendorf about 40 years ago.  Between booking and arriving in resort Jenny became pregnant, and whilst we were there on holiday was troubled with morning sickness.
Speaking barely any German at that time and being a somewhat embarrassed young prosective father I ventured to the local doctors near the church in seek of a remedy.  He prescribed some suppositories unmistakeably indicating how to use them with his middle finger. "You aren't going to get her to do that" was the essence of my reply.  Anyway it was all OK in the end.

It's good to see a bit of action in our Tirol section.  Actually we sold a hotel in that area to some Brits who are forum members, and we have also sold quite a few holiday apartments in Scheffau, Hopfgarten and around Ski Welt.  We are currently offering a new development in Söll with seven holiday apartments which will be built once we have signed contracts for enough of them.  So far, there a lot of Brits quite keen to buy.  This forum is read by many more people than we have members.  We get approximately 15,000 visitors a month - quite a lot from the UK - and obviously many others from around the world.  The more activity there is in a particular section, the more our visitors are drawn to that subject.

Clearly we have a Salzkammergut bias because our estate agency business is Bad Ischl based so that is to be expected. However, this forum is for everyone and if we can attract a load of readers / members who ski in your area, then you can all widen your friendships and help each other. If you need more topics -"Snow reports from Ski Welt" or whatever - just tell me. Anything to attract friends and readers.

It may well be that these buyers will be looking for someone local as a regular friend, or be looking for someone who wants to earn some pocket money by looking after their rental side.

My colleague in Hopfgarten deals with all the sales in that area and has all the names and contact details.
It might be worth speaking to him ?

we are still in Uk but have a small apartment in Bad Ischl although are looking to move permanently over there and are scouting areas each time we come and are next over in august with the motorbike so you may just have to make room for two more!
